Brompton Launches New Ebike and Smart e-Motiq System

Against the backdrop of accelerating global urbanization and the growing popularity of sustainable mobility concepts, urban commuters no longer limit their demands for transportation tools to the basic function of "getting from Point A to Point B". Instead, they pursue a combination of efficiency, flexibility, environmental friendliness, and lifestyle taste. Folding electric bikes, with their lightweight and portable design, have successfully solved the "last mile" problem and become a symbol of urban lifestyle. As a benchmark brand in the folding bike industry, Brompton has recently launched two groundbreaking new products: the Electric T Line and the all-new e-Motiq smart system.

Since its establishment in 1975, Brompton has always adhered to the core concepts of "handcrafted refinement" and "ultimate folding". Its classic C Line and P Line series are iconic for their articulated steel frame design and the ability to fold within 10 seconds. Every Brompton bike embodies sophisticated engineering, solid manufacturing craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of urban life. From traditional steel-frame models to the previously released lightweight A Line and C Line, and even the premium titanium P Line and T Line, Brompton has been constantly exploring the limits of materials and structures. Electrification represents a key step for the brand to adapt to the times and enhance product capabilities.

The newly launched Electric T Line is the culmination of Brompton’s technological expertise. It is not a simple addition of a motor to the existing frame, but a complete redesign from scratch.

Lightweight Revolution

Revolutionary lightweight design:

  • By extensively using high-performance materials such as titanium alloy and carbon fiber—materials usually found in top-tier sports cars or aerospace applications—the Electric T Line achieves impressive weight control: it weighs only about 11.2 kg without the battery and approximately 14.1 kg with the battery. The frame is 30% lighter than the previous generation of electric models (e.g., the Electric C Line).

Iconic folding function:

  • Inheriting Brompton’s folding technology, the Electric T Line can still be folded into a neat, compact package in just 20 seconds.

Core Power: The Intelligently Evolved e-Motiq System

If the lightweight frame is the "skeleton" of the T Line, the all-new e-Motiq system is its intelligent "brain and heart". This system is also applied to the electric G Series released at the same time, representing Brompton’s latest e-assist technology.

Customized rear hub motor

  • Equipped with a carefully tuned 250W rear hub motor with an output torque of 24Nm. This configuration ensures smooth and natural power delivery—no abrupt "push-back feeling" during startup or acceleration—perfectly preserving Brompton’s original agile riding experience.

Smart riding modes and thoughtful assistance

  • Start Assist Mode: Specifically designed to tackle sudden steep slopes or bridges in urban areas. When restarting after a stop, the system provides extra assistance.
  • Walk Assist Mode: When pushing the folded bike through pedestrian overpasses or train station halls, the walk assist function (with a maximum speed of 6 km/h) is a true "lifesaver".

Long battery life and smart battery management

  • The bike is fitted with an easily detachable 345Wh battery, housed in a clip-on bag at the front. Officially, it boasts a maximum range of up to 90 km under ideal conditions—more than enough to cover the weekly commute needs of most urban commuters. The battery design also prioritizes integration, blending seamlessly into the bike’s structure for a more cohesive look than previous models. More importantly, it can connect with the Brompton Electric companion app, offering intelligent range predictions based on real-time road conditions, riding habits, and weather. This lets users keep track of remaining battery power and avoid "range anxiety". The system also supports Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, meaning the bike can continuously optimize performance and gain new features through software upgrades.

The Brompton Electric T Line will be available for pre-order on Brompton’s official website across Europe starting October 21st. Brompton-authorized dealers will begin public sales on October 28th, with a starting price of $5,799.
